Imani Grant, MBA’12 Wins Forté Foundation’s Edie Hunt Inspiration Award

The Forté Foundation, a consortium of major corporations, business schools, and non-profit organizations that directs talented women towards leadership roles in business, has announced that Imani Grant, MBA ’12, was selected as a winner of this year’s Forté Edie Hunt Inspiration Award

Selection for the award, which is open to students at all Forte-sponsored schools, is highly competitive.  Imani, a Forté Fellow, distinguished herself to the selection committee through her significant Johnson leadership initiatives. Since joining Johnson, Imani has continually worked to increase women’s interest in business school. In her first year at Johnson, she served as a Consulting Career Work Group Leader for the Sustainable Global Enterprise and Agriculture area and as an active member of the Women’s Management Council (WMC), which works to create professional, social, and community-impact opportunities for Johnson and Cornell University women.

She also served as an active member and a mentor to prospective and incoming first-year MBA students in the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management (CGSM). In the capacity, Imani provided information, support, and guidance to underrepresented minority and women applicants. Imani also serves as the vice president of internal affairs for O4B, the Johnson student organization that supports the LGBT community, and she launched the Fortés@Johnson student group for Johnson Forté Fellows.

“With her many accomplishments to advance our women’s initiatives and her strong performance in interviews with the selection committee members, Imani made certain that Johnson was represented exceptionally well, for the second year in a row,” said Nsombi B. Ricketts, director of Johnson’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Imani was officially honored with the award at the Forte Foundation’s Women MBA Conference on June 30, 2012, in Los Angeles. Kima McCoy, MBA ’11, won the award in 2011.
