Making the Sale: The Art of Persuasion and Influence

Johnson Senior Lecturer Risa Mish headed to New Orleans this week to coach and instruct six MBA teams, along with other competitors in pitching challenges at Idea Village’s New Orleans Entrepreneur Week 2012.

Persuasion is a catalyst for getting work done, for achieving an outcome you can’t realize on your own.  On March 14, Mish, who also is the director of Johnson’s Leadership Skills Program, led a workshop to help participants understand the art of persuasion, so that they can achieve influence in business, relationships, and life.

Throughout the week, she coached entrepreneurs participating in the various competitions that are part of New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, helping them with the "critical thinking and persuasion" aspects of their pitches. She also served as a "roving coach" for the MBA teams from Harvard Business School, Columbia, Duke (Fuqua), University of Virgina (Darden), and the Yale School of Management, who competed in the Coulter Challenge IDEApitch.
