Michael J. Sharp, MBA '81
Mike Sharp is Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Jefferies Group, Inc., a position he assumed in September 2010 after having been a partner at the WilmerHale law firm. Before joining WilmerHale, Mike was Managing Director and General Counsel of Citi Consumer Banking, Global Cards, and Global Wealth Management. Prior to joining Citi, Mike was a litigation associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Mike began his legal career as a judicial clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Before practicing law, Mike traded U.S. Treasury Bonds after graduating from the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
In addition to his role as National Chair for the Johnson Annual Fund, Mike is also on the University of Georgia School of Law Board of Visitors. Mike also serves on the Boards of Directors of Sanctuary for Families and The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and is a volunteer instructor for Workshop in Business Opportunities, an organization dedicated to helping small business owners and budding entrepreneurs from under-served communities.
Mike holds a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Law Review; a master’s degree in business administration from Johnson; and a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University.
