During our two-year journey in the EMBA we’ve had the privilege of listening to a variety of very insightful guest speakers. Last summer during our 3rd residence week...

One of the things that attracted me to Cornell’s Executive MBA curriculum was the Global Business Project (GBP) that we would have to complete. Cornell’s GBP is quite different...

December 4th was a day to rejoice for the class of 2012. It meant the last day of term 3 and now just one more term to go. At this point in our MBA journey...

Hard to believe but first year is over. It flew by in the wink of an eye. One of the things that makes everything fly by is the constant work that you have to prepare on a bi-weekly basis. Whether it’s...

Traveling for work is something that is very likely going to come up for you during the program. This past week I had to go to our London office because I had to interview candidates for a Global Web Marketing position. One of the things this trip made me realize...

One of the great things of being in an MBA class of 70 people is the variety of tastes people have. So this past weekend, I found out who are the other UFC fans ...

On January 9th the class of 2012 made the trek back up to Ithaca for our 2nd residence week as well as the start of our second term. Getting back into the swing of things after a month off is not easy; and, the weather in Ithaca in January doesn’t make it any easier.

It’s hard to believe how fast Term 1 went. As noted in my previous entry, we finished our first of four terms that make up the Cornell EMBA program the weekend of Dec. 4th and 5th. I asked the 2012 class to provide some thoughts on Term 1 ending. My objective was to hopefully capture where each person was a year ago before starting the program, in July when we started in Ithaca, was it as hard as you thought it was going to be? How has it affected you? How have you changed professionally? etc...

The weekend of Dec 4 & 5 marked the end of our first term. One down and three more to go!

During the application process, my conversations with professors as well as EMBA alumni confirmed a Cornell MBA was vital to accomplishing my short and long-term objectives. This is very clear especially now that I've completed three out of the five first term courses.

My short-term goal is to become a C-level executive at a high-tech company. My long-term goal is to develop eco-lodges that reduce the ecological footprint. In 2002, I started a "pet project" and embarked on developing the Sacuanjoche Adventure Lodge. I have not yet brought this project to fruition. Given Cornell's alumni community and institutes such as the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship and the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprises, I now have access to the resources needed to accomplish this venture.

As an EMBA student, what’s the one thing that you couldn’t live without at the IBM Executive Conference Center?

I’m willing to bet anything that all EMBA students would vote for the snack room. This is the room that houses all the cookies, Red Bulls, egg sandwiches, bagels,...

It’s hard to believe that the First Residence Week has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Back in December (2009) when I learned that I had been accepted to Cornell’s Johnson School of Business, the start of my MBA adventure seemed so far away. It’s now mid-September, and we’re a week away from finishing up with Managerial Statistics with Dr. Juran,...

What do you picture when you think of an EMBA program?

Just books, lots of studying, lack of sleep, no time for a social life. Wrong my friend! Those things do happen, because make no mistake about it, you will work hard. But there is time to balance life, which is also a very important part of an EMBA.  Could a beer pong tournament happen in an EMBA environment? Yes. Well, at least it does happen in the Cornell EMBA program. To the surprise of many first year EMBA students, Dr. Juran, our stats professor, held the annual beer pong tournament. Unfortunately, the first year class was not able to compete with the class of 2011. The 2011's international finance exam got moved to Sunday morning, so let’s just say all of them were neatly tucked in their rooms studying. Nevertheless, we all had a great time.
