Battle of the Brands is an annual competition here at Johnson. Teams of first-year students (approximately 5 per team) are assigned a product (usually from a known brand), and then tasked with marketing that product to the student body with the goal of selling as much as possible during a Sage Social. The companies that participated in this years competition were as follows: Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Reckitt Benckiser, Unilever and Mars.
Yesterday was the conclusion of about two weeks of planning and advertising from both teams. The results are due in this afternoon, but it was a great time for all involved, including representatives from each company who travel to Ithaca to see how the students perform with their products.
Each product had its own booth, and each booth stood out in its own way - including a karaoke station, photo booth and DJ booth, among others. Students and faculty that were not on a team were given twelve tickets to spend accordingly on the products for sale.
