Kudos to Cornell’s Office of Alumni Affairs and Development for hosting a great Johnson School “Homecoming” Banquet event this past weekend at Palisades, NY for the Executive MBAs and alums.  This was a festive occasion with food and drinks after Saturday’s classes for students from the Class of 2012 and 2013 to mix and mingle with each other, as well meet with with Johnson School alums who were visiting with their families from previous class years.

Spring is seemingly in full bloom!  Now that we’re a few months into our second semester, I can’t help but have a retrospective on the beginning of our school year, which began up in Ithaca, NY in January 2012. Make no mistake, one of the most unique aspects of the Executive MBA program at Cornell is our residency period in the main campus upstate which typically lasts for a period of 9 days.

Thus far, 2012 has been a whirlwind of juggling classes, exams, and presentations - all while maintaining our "day jobs"!  With all of the organized chaos that me and my classmates have been going through in this program, I have received a whole new perspective on the value of personal time.  One of the beautiful things about Cornell's Executive MBA program is that we have several breaks throughout the year at the of each semester.  For many of us, this is a great time to reward ourselves with vacations.

Given that Cornell’s Executive MBA consists primarily of weekend classes throughout the 22-month program, one of the more prominent questions that I get from prospective candidates is how I am able to make the most out of networking with my classmates given the fact that we are not together every day (as it is the case in the traditional full-time MBA format).  While it’s true that the opportunities to get together are more limited in an Executive program, I can attest to the fact that my classmates and I are still able to frequently meet outside of our class weekends.
