“The spiritual path is not a solo endeavor. In fact, the very notion of a self who is trying to free her/himself is a delusion. We are in it together and the company of spiritual friends helps us realize our interconnectedness.” – Tara Brach

OK, so before anyone begins thinking that our program is a deeply spiritual experience where we begin each day holding hands, singing Kumbaya, and pass around the peyote in a quest for enlightenment…  Just stop right there…  That’s not exactly the mental picture I am intending to paint right now.  Today’s blog is about….  Well, just keep reading and hopefully you’ll understand.

It’s unbelievable to think that we are fast approaching the midway point of our CEMBA experience.  As we reach “the turn”, I am sensing that the range of emotions that come with the experience are expanding and intensifying.  It’s difficult to figure out why exactly, though there are multiple factors for certain.  I am sure one component is our witnessing the Class of 2012 coming closer...

"It is difficult to live in the present, ridiculous to live in the future, and impossible to live in the past. Nothing is as far away as one minute ago." This is a quote I once heard, and not sure who gets the credit. So, until it's credit can be properly referenced?  I am using it. Wow!  Did we really just finish off two more courses?  It literally feels like a minute ago when I last posted a blog entry, however my calendar tells me that estimation would hold 5% accuracy, with a standard deviation of said 5%.  In other words, incorrect.  Well, impossible to live in the past, right? We just recently wrapped up our half semester which means we completed two courses: Business Strategy and Managing Operations.  Granted we completed these courses over 2 weeks ago, but I needed some time to regain my breath.  This was a long last 2 months, and I think it is a safe assumption that we are starting to feel to rigors of the program this semester.  Not that it has gotten any more difficult, but rather the endurance...

Residence Week seems like a distant memory at this point, yet it was only a few short weeks ago.  Since Ithaca, we have resumed classes and just a couple days ago returned home from another weekend at the Palisades.  This time everyone scurried home in a frenzy to prepare to watch yet another Giants Super Bowl spanking of the Patriots.  Hey, even though I am an Eagles fan… this is NY, after all…  You want a New England angle, there are plenty of second rate institutions in the Boston area willing to accept your application.

I have to say that I am absolutely loving the courses thus far this semester, Managing Operations and Business Strategy.  Quantitative and Qualitative analysis at its finest!  For someone like myself who is steering their career towards COO (making every effort at least), these are the exact courses I have been looking forward to when I joined the program.  Hmmm, now that I just publicized that, I guess I just put some added pressure on myself to attain “A”s in both.  Well, I do better...

For those of you in the 40-plus year old generation, you may recognize this blog's title as the title of an Allman Brothers album.  For those of you reading this who are in the traditional MBA program, I sincerely hope you have even heard of the Allman Brothers, or albums for that matter...  One of my all time favorite songs is from that album, "No One Left To Run With", and right now one particular line keeps dancing in my head...  "I'm gonna hit the road, adios my friend...."  Well, in about 7 hours (to be exact), I will be doing exactly that - hittin' the road!  That's right - tomorrow we head back to Ithaca for our second residence week of the four total that we have throughout the program, and I'm thrilled!  It will be great to see my classmates.  In fact, I'm so excited to get back together with everyone, that I am not even stressing about the work that we'll be doing throughout the week.  Ask me come Thursday night if I am still feeling this way... I live in Westchester County, NY and the drive up to...

It is now just a little more than a week ago that brought the close of our first semester, and the proverbial “icing on the semester cake” was two Final Exams.  I actually have to laugh each time I hear myself say “Final Exams”.  The last time I uttered those words as something I actually needed to prepare for, the only person I knew who owned a cellular phone was Gordon Gekko!  Yes, I know he’s a fictional character, but you get my point.  Well, the finals have come and gone, and they were indeed as challenging as you can imagine.  As I await my last final grade for the semester I have been able to exhale a bit, grab some personal time, and get back into a (somewhat) normal balanced daily regimen.  Have to say, it feels pretty darn good.  The mind is a little clearer, can focus better, though could probably still use a little more decompression time to feel fully refreshed.

Though I am excited to regain some breathing room for the next few weeks until we trek back to Ithaca for the second residence week,...

Wow!  I am bursting at the seams with excitement about my new blogging position.  I would say I am speechless, but that would not make for an interesting blogger.  As I post my regular entries, I will strive to provide you with a read that is honest, accurate and hopefully entertaining.  Above all, I aim to paint for you the mental picture of the experiences as a CEMBA student.  Before I dive into my weekly chronicles of the ongoing CEMBA student life, here is a little about me:
