Emerging Markets Institute Announces Research Grant Winners
Grants further enhance Johnson’s research agenda as the pre-eminent business school for the study of emerging markets.
The Emerging Markets Institute at Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management has announced the winners of its second annual grant program. The issuance of these grants signifies Johnson’s commitment to furthering business research on emerging economies and strengthens its position as the pre-eminent business school for the study of emerging markets.
The faculty review committee has granted awards to:
Warren Bailey, Ph.D., with Wei Huang, Ph.D., Ghon Rhee, Ph.D., and Zhishu Yang, Ph.D., “What’s Different about Islamic Finance?”
George P. Gao, Ph.D., with Pengjie Gao, Ph.D., and Yongxiang Wang, Ph.D., “Security Transaction Tax, Trading Behavior and Market Quality in China”
Srinagesh Gavirneni, Ph.D., “Equitable Allocation of Surface Water in Indian Agriculture: Identification and Implementation of Effective and Practical Strategies”
G. Andrew Karolyi, Ph.D., Faculty Co-Director of the Institute commented, ““We are exceptionally pleased with the quality of submissions and the interest being shown by our outstanding faculty in emerging market research. These projects are well positioned to have a solid impact on scholarship and best practices.”
These awards follow on the success of last year’s grants on business and behavioral ethics in developing markets and store format choices in the Indian retail market. White papers will be soon forthcoming, and will be referenced on the Emerging Markets Institute website.
