Johnson invites professional women to a series of live, interactive dialogues on balancing life, work, and graduate education, in your 20s and 30s.
Johnson at Cornell University’s office of admissions today kicks off “The Superwoman Series,” a five-session live, interactive event exploring issues of work-life balance for young professional women. This series aims to address the concerns, fears, challenges and benefits that women face in balancing their professional and personal lives through their 20’s and 30’s. The series is hosted by Christine Sneva, executive director of admissions and financial aid, and features a guest speaker each month. These guests are doers and achievers, leaders and innovators who will challenge participants to think about setting goals, defining their potential, and forging a path that fits them as individuals.
“This isn’t about why you should pursue an MBA, although some of the speakers have earned MBA’s and some work in traditional business-related fields,” Sneva said. “This is about an honest dialogue that addresses questions and concerns that are unique to women as they begin or move forward in their professional lives.”
The first live, web-based event features Paula Steisel Goldfarb, PhD, executive director of NYU Stern’s part-time and full-time EMBA programs and graduate financial aid, and mother of two. Paula will present research on pathways to business school and women’s experience at graduate school, and also invite participants—who can chime in via Internet from anywhere in the world—to bring forward their questions and concerns on work-life balance and career growth.
“We are focused on helping women define and achieve their goals,” said Sneva, also a mother of two. “We don’t promise to have all the answers, but we hope to start a meaningful dialogue and challenge women to reach your potential.”
The series is open to all women, and begins on Thursday, August 15, at 1 p.m. EST. Please pre-register to receive an access code to log in live: http://www.johnson-cornell.com/register?eventID=82.
The second event in The Superwoman Series takes place on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 1pm EST. Topic and guest to be announced soon.
