Frequently Asked Questions About the Johnson Accelerated MBA program
Q: Is your Accelerated MBA recognized as equivalent to a two-year MBA?
A: Yes. In fact, we offer four ways to earn a Cornell MBA. The differences among our MBA programs reflect the varying backgrounds and needs of the students. All result in a rigorous general management education that prepares MBAs for leadership roles.
Q: Are students in the Accelerated MBA program isolated from other MBA students?
A: No. Students in our one-year and two-year Ithaca-based MBA programs take classes together and work closely together on a variety of projects. One of the distinctions of Johnson is our focus on teamwork and collaboration.
Q: Will I have a choice of Immersion Learning programs as an AMBA student?
A: AMBA students are eligible to participate in the Strategic Marketing Immersion, Sustainable Global Enterprise Immersion, or Managerial Finance Immersion. AMBA students can also take most elective courses that are included within the remainder of the Immersion Program for two-year residential students. These courses and immersions provide students with in-depth industry expertise, and make them particularly strong candidates for full-time positions in their chosen fields.
Q: I'm planning to make a major career change. Will your AMBA program give me what I need to do so?
A: If you intend to make a significant career change—particularly to a field that requires a depth of specific knowledge and experience—you may want to consider the two-year MBA. The immersions and additional electives offer opportunities for more intense specialization.
Q: How do your AMBAs fare in the job market?
A: Extremely well! Our AMBAs have an exceptional track record of offers—100% of those seeking jobs received offers in 2007—with lucrative salaries and signing bonuses.
Q: Can I start in January?
A: No. The one-year AMBA curriculum is a carefully structured learning sequence. It begins in May and ends in graduation the following May.
