Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise

Students

The Center is a resource for Cornell students interested in issues pertaining to business and sustainability, engaging students in these issues through various activities and research.

Curriculum - Knowing that interest in sustainability is diverse, the award-winning sustainable global enterprise curriculum has been designed to allow for maximum flexibility, while maintaining a rigorous program. The Center was named a grand prize winner for its sustainable global enterprise immersion program in the D. Alfred N. and Lynn Manos Page Prize for Sustainability Issues in Business Curricula. Students can elect to take the SGE Immersion and/or the SGE Concentration while customized programs can be designed for executives. In addition, MBA students can apply to the Environmental Finance and Impact Investing Fellows Program during their first semester.

Applied Learning – By participating in company-sponsored projects secured through the Center, students develop the critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to take on leadership roles in business, regardless of industry or functional area.

Careers – The Center works closely with the Johnson Career Management Center to provide the appropriate resources and support to students seeking careers that fall under the domain of sustainable global enterprise.

Student Organizations – The Center provides advice and guidance to the Sustainable Global Enterprise Club, BR Microcapital, and the Sustainable Enterprise Association, and frequently collaborates with these organizations.

The diversity of sustainability interests and range of professional experience fosters ‘peer teaching’. I’ve learned as much, if not more, from classmates as I have in classes.

In my current role I do not touch sustainability on daily basis. However, I credit the SGE immersion with preparing me with the tools necessary to address complex and ambiguous challenges, which typify business today.
