Tari Teme was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He attended Purdue University Lafayette, Indiana where he graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. He went on to work for Intel Corporation in Silicon Valley as a Systems Engineer. After three years in this role, Tari returned to Purdue University for a Masters of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and subsequently accepted to return to Intel as part of the company’s prestigious 18-month Rotation Engineer Program (REP). Tari used this time to drive various engineering initiatives in the smart phones and tablet space and eventually final-placed into a Product Engineer role in the mobile computing group at Intel. Also during this time, Tari served as a Business Development Coach (BDC) for a non-profit called Generation Enterprise (GEN): an organization setup to address high potential disenfranchised youth in emerging markets.
Tari continues to be involved in emerging markets activities here at Johnson: he is a fellow with the Emerging Markets Institute and he also founded the Johnson Africa Business Association ¬– an organization setup to provide a steady platform for Cornelians interested in doing business in Africa.
Tari will be building on his summer experience as a Management Consultant by pursing a Strategy Consulting career post-MBA.
