Andrea Amaya was born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in New York City.  She graduated from Bernard Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, Investments and Economics. Andrea started her career within the Equity Research department of Neuberger Berman and Banc of America Securities where she spent the first six years of her career advising Institutional clients on short term and long term investing, specifically in the Technology Hardware, Software and Semiconductor sectors.  Prior to business school, Andrea was a Financial Consultant for Morgan Stanley focused on growing and maintaining high net-worth clients with the firm.  She worked closely with over 200 clients in their retirement, estate/insurance planning and asset allocation analysis based upon their personal objectives. Andrea also facilitated unsecured loans and open facilities in excess of $1M for clients, generating revenues of up to $500K for the firm.
Andrea was an avid member of the MSSB Latino Employee Network and the Morgan Stanley Women&rsquos council.  She also aided in the launch of the Hispanic network association for her complex, which created numerous recruiting workshops aimed to increase the amount Hispanics interested in financial consulting. Andrea also helped develop internal and external training and mentorship programs for employees, as well as built a partnership with organizations such as Hispanic Association for Leadership and Advancement HOLA, National Society of Hispanic MBA&rsquos NSHMBA and Tomorrow&rsquos business Leaders TBL, where Banc of America Securities and Morgan Stanley employees volunteered as career coaches and academic advisors for the underrepresented minority youth of urban NYC.
At Johnson, Andrea is continuing her passion of diversity and inclusion as the Vice President of Corporate Relations for the Women's Management Council, Hispanic American Business Leaders sAssociation HABLA and Black Graduate Business Association BGBA. She is also a Forté Leadership Fellow, Consortium Member and an Emerging Markets Fellows Program candidate, as well as an active member of the Old Ezra Finance Club, the Latino Business Association and the General Management club.
Andrea is part of the Managerial Finance immersion at Johnson and is interested in pursuing a career in corporate finance with a company that has an international presence with emphasis in emerging economies.
Andrea enjoys traveling, especially if it involves a great scuba dive trip. She has over 35 dives under her belt and will soon want to purse a dive master certificate.  Her most notorious dives were a shark dive in the Bahamas and a Manta ray dive in the Big Island of Hawaii.
