EII’s First Several Months: Fast and Furious

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute has started 2012 with gusto, launching several initiatives to benefit students, faculty, and alumni alike.  We now have 60 Fellows Candidates representing all four MBA programs in our EII Fellows Program and a wide range of supportive programming and activities.

Besides relevant coursework, these students are involved in EII’s daily business, including consulting engagements, strategic alliances, and internship programs, and must complete major capstone projects that have lasting impact and value to Johnson and Cornell.  The EII Project Mentors Program, started by EII Fellow Candidates, places current fulltime MBA students with startup project teams in undergraduate engineering classes.  Each mentor guides a team to focus on the most critical business issues in tech commercialization and company formation.  Mentors, mentees, and faculty are seeing the advantages of this partnership and look forward to the end-of-semester presentations and judging.

Also in the Spring of 2012, EII initiated an internship program with Greenstart, a clean tech business accelerator in San Francisco.

Other internship programs and strategic partnerships are in the works, including one with Plug and Play in Silicon Valley, plus various VC firms, companies, and other members of the greater entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems. In addition, EII has been attracting more participation by local, national, and international speakers in the Innovation Seminar Series and Entrepreneurship Seminar Series.  We are also hosting 3 panels at the annual E@C Celebration.  Check out the full schedule here: E@C Celebration.

There are several other activities as well, from speaking at major conferences and forums to publishing key research, and from actively assisting a variety of Cornell-related startups to collaborating with Cornell’s technical resources to provide the necessary business input to help commercialize more Cornell technology faster.  So, please stay tuned for more to come.  Also, if you know of opportunities that EII should explore, please feel free to contact us at ContactEII@cornell.edu.
