Networking

Networking both inside and outside of Johnson is critical. Between the Johnson programs, events, and clubs and EII’s connections to other Cornell organizations and constituents, the networking opportunities are significant and powerful.

Johnson Clubs

Johnson student clubs provide additional learning opportunities in specialized areas of entrepreneurship:

  • Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital, & Startup Club fosters thinking and discussion regarding startups and venture capital. The EVC participates in national business plan competitions, provides unique opportunities for small group meetings with invited speakers, and engenders learning experiences for interested students. Additionally, EVC is responsible for key symposium panels during the yearly Entrepreneurship@Cornell Celebration.
  • Healthcare and Biotechnology Club (HBC) provides a forum for interested students to learn the business of the healthcare and biotechnology industry, and to interact with leaders in biotechnology, genomics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life-science focused venture capital, healthcare IT, consulting, and investment banking. The organization also works as an effective vehicle to gain employment in healthcare and life science companies.
  • High Tech Club strives to advance the understanding of technology and its impact in today's global business environment. The Club works to facilitate opportunities for students to explore professional and informational trips to Silicon Valley and Boston's high tech corridor.

Cornell Conections

Johnson students have access to deep entrepreneurial-based network.  Listed below are examples of that network that are part of the Cornell entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Entrepreneurship@Cornell brings together faculty and courses from all across Cornell, sponsors public lectures, campus networking events, and a summer internship program.  Each year, E@C and EII plans and hosts the Entrepreneurship@Cornell Celebration.
  • Cornell Entrepreneurship Network (CEN) is a wide-reaching network of alumni and friends with interests in entrepreneurship. Since June 2001, approximately 16,000 alumni, parents, students, staff and friends have attended hundreds of CEN events. We encourage you to explore CEN and attend its events.
  • Cornell Silicon Valley (CSV) provides a regular series of activities designed to connect Cornellians in California's high-tech businesses with Cornell faculty, students and other alumni.  The events are powerful networking opportunities.
  • Cornell Hillel now runs a Campus Entrepreneurs Initiative.  We expect this new initiative to expand in terms of programming and outreach.
  • Student Agencies is America’s oldest independent student-run corporation, which provides diverse services ranging from summer storage to campus marketing to business plan development.   eLab is a business incubator for students that helps high potential entrepreneurs turn concepts into reality.  It is a direct affiliate of Student Agencies, and each year 4 Johnson School students serve as eLab fellows to assist in various aspects of its incubation services.
