James is a program manager at Apple in the MFi and AirPlay operations group and oversees multiple aspects of licensing for hardware components, development tools, and certification logos for consumer electronics products designed for the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.  In his role, he is also responsible for developing and maintaining working relationships with third party partners as well as establishing and managing new technology programs.

Prior to joining Apple, James was a senior manager with dual roles in patent licensing and business operations at a San Francisco-based wholly owned patent pool licensing subsidiary of Dolby Laboratories.  He managed operations for patents essential to mandated, de-facto, and emerging standards for audio coding, digital broadcast and wireless technologies.  In addition to his cross-functional roles in IP business development and strategic licensing partnerships with technology companies, he led a team responsible for IP licensing, patent management and data integrity, field sales support, contract lifecycle management, business analysis, system enhancement deployments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

James is pursuing an MBA at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, where he is an Associate in the EII Fellows Program at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute.  He received his B.A. from UC Berkeley where he majored in Molecular and Cell Biology, Neurobiology, and minored in Music with a piano performance election.  James is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Agent, and his affinity for technology and innovation has contributed significantly to over 12 years of business operations and strategic partnership experience in the areas of licensing, patents, and technology monetization.
