hi- what about those of us who are applying straight from college? how would the response to "How would you characterize your career since college?" differ? Are we allowed to describe our internship experiences instead?

Thanks for revealing all of the topics for teh creative essays on here, as I was really not familiar with what can possible be, as this is my first time writing anything like that, simply because in Europe, where I am from originally,the system is different, but am really appreciating the detailed info!

@Yuexin: it is OK to not know exactly what you want to do since b-school offers a variety of opportunities to do some career exploration; however, you do need to have a focus, short-term and long-term, that will help guide you through the many resources and opportunities students have at Johnson. Some students do feel at a disadvantage when they have not really thought about what it is that they are good at and what you are passionate about - even further, how do you know this is something you want to do and committed to doing.

@Brayn: thanks for asking this question. This essay (TOC) is asking that you give us a short sample of the chapter headings if'/when you write your life story. You can start and end wherever you wish; you can include 1-5 sentences in each chapter heading; or you can add quotes, some applicants have been inspired by song titles; anything that helps the admissions committee understand what is important to you about your life that you would write about in a book. I hope this helps.

@linh: if you are coming straight out of college, you would need to include "career" under the umbrella of college work, internships, and any other type of "experience" you would include on your resume as well as contribute to your MBA experience.

@Sofia: work with your application manager (see previous blog post on regional breakdown of this) and they will let you know how to handle this. Typically, we are flexible about this, but do need to see an official copy before we are ready to make a final decision on your file. Best, Christine

Hey Christine, I have my GMAT on 10th September, and the R1 deadline is OCT 17. I have not started with my essays yet. Should I speed up and somehow finish by R1 deadline or take time and submit my R2? What I basically want to know how much will I lose if I apply in R2 instead of R1?

@Ankur: You should submit when you feel it is ready - there is no need to rush to be in round 1 and it is not worth rushing if you believe you have a better presentation by waiting until round 2.

Hi Christine, I started my online application in end Oct and I chose the application R2, thinking I should have sufficient time to complete the whole application process. However, I feel really rushed to meet the R2 deadline right now and would like to change it from R2 to R3, so that I could have a better overall presentation.
Could you advise whether I can still do the switch half-way during my online application? It seems I can't reset the application round after choosing "R2" in the system...Any advice on this?

@Gaurav - yes, international applicants can apply round 3. I understand round 3 can seem "late" for some but we evaluate the strength in applications in each round and if you have been able to submit a strong application, I would rather you feel confident about this rather than worrying about R2 v. R3. I hope this helps!

In Essay Q1, i am somewhat confused about what elments should career changers focus on. For example, I am from high-tech but i gained lots of leadership expereince in education sector (non-profit) and that is my post-mba goal. So, should i focus achievements that i made in high-tech or non-profit.

Thanks for having this blog, it is extremely helpful. I am applying in Round 3, but my immediate supervisor, who is also my recommender will not be able to submit the recommendation letter by Jan 30. He is out of country because of unavoidable personal reasons. Can he submit the letter after the deadline ?
I also read another blog about a possibility of Round 3 deadline being postponed due to problems with the paper reader. Do you more information on that ?
