Johnson Hosts Second Annual Women in Investing Conference
Bringing together top female MBA students to explore careers in asset management with leading firms
The Parker Center for Investment Research of Johnson at Cornell University will host its second annual Women in Investing Conference Nov. 17 and 18 at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston. More than 70 female MBA students from 12 top business schools are attending. They will have the opportunity to network with representatives from leading investment management firms, attend educational panels on investment skills and practices, and receive expert feedback on their stock-pitching skills.
This year’s keynote speaker is Eileen M. Dibb, CFA, portfolio manager at Pyramis Global Advisors, a unit of Fidelity Investments. Dibb is scheduled to present on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. EST. Dibb manages the Japan equity portion of the Pyramis International Growth strategy. Prior to her role at Pyramis, Dibb was vice president and regional analyst at Wellington Management Company, were she managed dedicated Japan portfolios.
“We’re honored to once again gather the most distinguished leaders in the investment management field at our second annual Women in Investing Conference,” said Lakshmi Bhojraj, director of the Parker Center at Johnson. “The forum gives aspiring female MBAs a chance to explore the investment management field and an opportunity to ascertain the career interests and opportunities as they look ahead post MBA. This event is one of many initiatives that Johnson hosts in an effort to provide women in investment management with recruitment opportunities as they are significantly underrepresented.”
According to Johnson student Sheryl Zhou, MBA ’13, Johnson provides myriad opportunities for female MBA students, “Johnson is committed to helping female MBA students succeed post MBA. Events like the Women in Investing Conference are a testament to their commitment to women. By providing opportunities to network with peers and corporate executives Johnson is truly opening doors to opportunities for which most of us might not have access.”
Panel sessions will cover topics such as stock pitching and pitching skills, investment strategy in the current economic environment, tips to generate investment ideas, and how to conduct proprietary research. Expert panelists are being provided by the following firms: American Century Investments, BNY Mellon Asset Management, Capital Group, Fidelity Investments, Putnam Investments, State Street Global Advisors, MFS Investment Management, PIMCO, SSgA and Wellington Management Company.
