2010 JMB and JWIB Events Huge Successes
On October 28-30th and November 11-12th ODI welcomed diverse prospective students to Johnson to explore our unique, collaborative culture and to interact with our dedicated faculty, staff and students. 50 ethnically diverse prospective students and 29 women attended the 2010 Johnson Means Business (JMB) and Johnson Women in Business (JWIB) events respectively.
On October 28-30, 2010, ODI hosted 50 ethnically diverse prospective students at our annual Johnson Means Business (JMB) recruiting weekend. Wilbur Parker, MBA '50, Johnson’s first African-American alumnus, returned to campus to welcome prospective JMBers during the networking reception. Ana Duarte McCarthy, Citi’s managing director and chief diversity officer, was the luncheon keynote speaker and inspired attendees to lead authentically and build a reputable personal brand.
ODI hosted 29 prospective women MBAs at our inaugural Johnson Women in Business (JWiB) recruiting event on November 11-12, 2010. JWiB was inspired by two Park Leadership Fellows, Hannah Dupes, MBA ’11 and Margaret Guillemette, MBA ’11, who partnered with ODI to launch this event as a vehicle to increase the number of women MBAs at Johnson. Martha Gallo, BS ’79, MBA ’81, EVP & General Auditor at JPMorgan Chase, was the keynote luncheon speaker and shared five key lessons with the audience:
- Appreciate that you will live your life in phases
- Be the master or mistress of your own destiny
- Have no regrets
- Keep your options open
- Participate, engage and commit to a better world
We received tremendously positive feedback from the students who attended both JMB and JWiB and look forward to making both events part of our annual efforts to recruit under-represented minorities and women to Johnson.
