1st Annual Johnson Diversity Symposium Receives High Praise from Attendees
The inaugural 2010 Diversity Symposium, Diversity 20/20: A Vision for Leadership, Innovation, and Networking, took place on Saturday, October 30th, 2010
The inaugural 2010 Diversity Symposium, Diversity 20/20: A Vision for Leadership, Innovation, and Networking, took place on Saturday, October 30th, 2010, and was co-sponsored by the Black Graduate Business Association (BGBA), Latino Business Students Association (LBSA) and the Cornell undergraduate Minority Business Students Association (MBSA). More than 200 students and professionals attended this historic event, including 25 prominent alumni and trustees, 20 corporate sponsor representatives, and over 50 Johnson Students.
The agenda for the two day event included, a pre-conference networking reception, several panel sessions, a breakfast keynote address by Lance LaVergne, VP & Chief Diversity Officer of New York Life, and a presentation by Innovation Expert and best-selling author of “The Medici Effect: Ground-Breaking Innovation at the Intersection of Disciplines and Cultures,” Frans Johansson.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony and the presentation of the 2010 BGBA Wilbur Parker Distinguished Alumni Award to Joseph Wilson, MBA ’86, and the 2010 LBSA Distinguished Latino Alumni Award to Ken Gurrola, MBA ’95.
