The JP Morgan Chase & CO Women’s Power Lunch (WPL) Series was initiated as a forum for women in the Johnson community to gather, get to know one another and practice the art of networking.

Johnson Women’s Power Lunch (WPL) Series began in the spring of 2000. With generous support and guidance from Karen Keating, ’76, Managing Director, JPMorgan Chase & CO, the WPL Series has evolved into an opportunity for graduate women to connect not just with one another, but with faculty, staff and influential women executives around issues important to women in business. ODI hosted several impressive WPL speakers for the 2010-11 academic year:

  • On October 19, 2010, the WPL series welcomed Dr. Elmira Mangum, Vice President for Planning and Budget for Cornell University.

  • On November 11-12, 2010, ODI hosted 29 prospective women at our inaugural Johnson Women in Business (JWiB) recruiting event.  We welcomed Martha Gallo, MBA ’81, of JP Morgan Chase & CO as our keynote WPL speaker during JWiB on November 11th.

  • On February 10, 2011, Naomi Kelman, President of Lifescan (Johnson and Johnson), kicked off the WPL series for the spring semester.

  • In honor of Women’s History Month, ODI partnered with the President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) to host a large scale WPL on Thursday, March 3, 2011.  Over 80 graduate women students, faculty and staff from not only Johnson, but also Cornell Engineering, ILR, CIPA, and Law schools attended this event.  We would like to extend a special thank you to the PCCW alumnae that served as featured speakers for this event: Lynn V. Ambrosia, BS CALS ’79, MBA ’81; Susanne De Graba, BS HOTEL ’76, MBA ’88; Jean Parker Hill, BS CALS ’83; Wendy Jacobs, AB Arts & Science’79; Lorraine Mohan, AB ’76, MBA ’78; Christine Stefanou Perry, BS ENGR ’85; Meredith A. Rosenberg, AB ’92; Barbara M. Stern, BS HOTEL ’80; and Deborah Waterman Johns, BS HE’79.

  • Our final WPL speaker for this academic year was Beth A. Brooke, Global Vice-Chair of Public Policy, Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement at Ernst & Young, on April 14, 2011.
