ODI had a fantastic month in October! We hosted 60+ prospective MBAs during Johnson Means Business (JMB) and Diversity Symposium on Oct 25th-27th. JMB attendees were moved and inspired by Jullien Gordon's presentation on The Innerview; and a keynote luncheon with Carlos Gutierrez, Vice Chairman of Citigroup’s Institutional Clients Group. The theme for this year's Diversity Symposium (DS) was "Diversify Your Portfolio", and over 200+ attendees heard remarks from keynotes Angela Noble-Grange, MBA ’94, Senior Lecturer of Management Communications; Karen Keating AB ’76, JP Morgan Managing Director; and Glenn Llopis, Founder of the Center for Hispanic Leadership. Thank you to DS Chair Renita Chaney, MBA ’13, and the BGBA, LBSA, WMC, O4B and MBSA students who worked hard to plan this event!
ODI started this month with more great news. On Nov 1st we welcomed new Associate Director Dr. Keba Rogers to the ODI Team, who is replacing Sonia Rucker. This week we will welcome 50 prospective women to campus for our 3rd and largest Johnson Women in Business (JWiB) recruitment event on Nov 8th & 9th. During JWiB, we will host a discussion panel based on the Sheryl Sandberg vs. Anne-Marie Slaughter articles “Can Women Have it All?” with Maureen O’Hara, Professor of Finance; Terry Cooper, Deloitte Chief Inclusion Officer; Cheryl Spielman, Ernst & Young Partner; Wendy Levitt, Author, MBA ’92; and moderated by Elissa Sangster, Executive Director of the Forté Foundation. Our JWIB visitors will also participate in a Women’s Power Lunch with keynote Denise Landman, CEO of Victoria’s Secret PINK; and learn Success Strategies for Women in a workshop with Defineum.
Today is Election Day, and I hope you joined me in voting during this important Presidential election. Next week I will travel to Atlanta, GA for the last two diversity recruiting events of the year- The Consortium MAPS and Member School Symposium on Nov 15th & 16th. And then I will be taking a much needed vacation the week of Thanksgiving!
