EMBA Application Process

The Executive MBA admissions process is personalized and straightforward and includes the following steps. Be sure to review important admissions dates and take note of varying timelines per program. You can always contact the EMBA admissions office with questions.

1. Submit a pre-assessment (optional)

Before beginning the formal application process, you can submit a pre-assessment for your EMBA program of interest. Our admissions team will provide you with preliminary feedback on your candidacy.

2. Start your application

Once you start an application, you can complete it at your convenience. Be sure to review each program’s application requirements, which include transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays, and other materials.

We strongly encourage candidates to research all programs thoroughly before beginning the application process. Should you decide to apply to more than one executive MBA program, you will need to submit a separate application for each program. The programs have different admissions committees and your applications will be reviewed according to the respective committee’s timeline. For more information on how to submit multiple applications through our system, please contact the admissions office

3. Complete and submit your application

When you have completed your application to your satisfaction, it is time to submit. At this stage, you will be required to pay the application fee.

4. If invited, schedule your interview

After you submit your application, you will be contacted by our admissions office to schedule a one-on-one interview. Interviews are scheduled after we conduct a preliminary review of your application and your supplemental materials. Interviews are conducted in person or via videoconference. They are required for admission, and not all applicants are granted an interview.

If you are an EMBA Americas candidate, we must confirm receipt of official transcripts and recommendation letters before scheduling your interview. EMBA Metro NY and EMBA/MS in Healthcare Leadership candidates may move forward conditionally as we await official documentation.

5. Receive your decision

After your interview, final admissions decisions will be communicated through the online application system or email and, in some instances, by phone. Admitted candidates will be asked to make their enrollment decision and submit a nonrefundable deposit by a set date, as outlined in their acceptance letter.

If you applied to the EMBA Americas or EMBA Metro NY program, you should hear from the admissions office around two weeks following your interview.

If you are an EMBA/MS in Healthcare Leadership applicant, you will receive a decision around four weeks after your interview, as both Johnson’s and Weill Cornell Graduate School’s admissions committees will need time to review your candidacy.

If you accept an offer of admission, a deposit is required to hold your enrollment position.
