Park Fellow Alumni Profiles

Damien Greenwood, MBA Class of 2009Damien Greenwood, MBA Class of 2009

Like any opportunity, the Park program is what you make of it. The program brings great responsibility, and in that regard it has added to my experience at Johnson. However, I don't see my Park project as an obligation to give back but rather as a strong platform from which to drive change. When the program selects Parks, I think this is a quality that they look for-the passion and commitment to make a difference in Ithaca and thereafter. I had an opportunity to leverage my passion for real estate and give back to a program and institution that has given me much, and that's a very rewarding feeling.

Pre-MBA Employer:

Hospitality Valuation Services

Park Project:

In collaboration with Johnson and the School of Hotel Administration, Greenwood and five other students worked to create an experiential real estate learning program for MBAs seeking careers in real estate, including real estate development, investing, banking, and private equity. Investment in Real Estate Securities (MBA 5720/HA 667) launched in the spring of 2009 and has both an academic (learning strategies to invest) and practical component (management of a real estate equities portfolio under faculty guidance). The course gives students access to the Carnelian Fund, which is a student-run investment vehicle for those interested in real estate (carnelian is the hue of red that is Cornell's official color). Additionally, the fund aims to provide a new and significant marketing tool for Johnson and expand the school's relationship with alumni in real estate.

Post-Graduate Employer:
