Immersion Learning
Entrepreneurship and Private Equity
The Entrepreneurship and Private Equity immersion learning program gives students a foundation of knowledge in private equity designed to prepare them to:
- start high-growth businesses
- engage in private equity investments, including:
-
venture capital
leveraged buyouts
mid-range mergers or acquisitions
The program is open to a small number of students who want to become principals—those willing to take personal risk and stick with a firm for three to five years. It focuses on companies in the small end of the private-equity world, those valued between $10 million and $100 million.
Students in the immersion become a collaborative cohort as part of their preparation to enter the private equity world, where a firm with even $1 billion under management typically has 10 or fewer members.
The foundation course in the Entrepreneurship and Private Equity immersion integrates finance, operations, and HR topics in the context of high-growth business ventures and private equity issues. Topics include:
- business plan development
- infrastructure of high-growth businesses
- valuation of high-growth businesses
- management and organization of high-growth businesses
- obtaining resources
- buying and selling closely-held businesses
- leveraged buyouts
- distressed businesses
