Roy H. Park Jr, MBA '63

Roy H. Park, Jr. graduated from the Lawrenceville School in 1956, received a B.A. in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1961 and an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management in 1963. Park is president and CEO of Park Outdoor Advertising of New York , Inc., having purchased the company in 1988, and president and chairman of Triad Foundation, Inc., both headquartered in Ithaca. A trustee emeritus of Cornell University, he also serves as a Presidential Councillor and is a member of the Board of Advisors of the University of North Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Chapel Hill. A member of the Johnson School's Advisory Council, Park is also vice-chairman and a director of the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research Inc. on the Cornell Campus.

From 1963 through 1970, Park was an advertising executive in the creative, research, personnel and account management departments of J. Walter Thompson Co. in New York City and Miami, moving to VP marketing and account management with Kincaid Advertising Agency in Charlotte in 1971, then to Park Outdoor Advertising in Ithaca as vice president and general manager a year later. He was also VP advertising and promotion of Park Communications, Inc. from 1976 - 1981, becoming a member of its Board in 1993. Having worked for his father's company for 17 years, Park's recently published book, Sons in the Shadow, covers the difficulties of surviving in a family business as the Son of the Boss.

Park with his wife, Tetlow, reside in Ithaca and have two children and seven grandchildren in Tampa, FL and Charlotte, NC.
