Karrie L. BorgeltNew president, new era
The Johnson School community was thrilled to have many of our alumni back to campus for President Skorton's Inauguration on September 7, and we hope you enjoyed your visit. The alumni who were here experienced the excitement and energy of officially welcoming our new president, as well as the start of the fall semester.

With the arrival of the Class of 2008, the return of the Class of 2007, not to mention the upcoming graduation of our first Boardroom EMBA class in November, the opportunities for capitalizing on young alumni programming are just waiting. In order for our young alumni to be excited about their involvement with the Johnson School, we are taking responsibility for helping to educate them. This starts while they are students by communicating the ways in which they can get involved with alumni affairs, as well as when they enter the world as a Johnson School alumna/us. Therefore, the alumni affairs and development team hosted a reception for all students on September 18, 2006, to learn how to become a Student/Alumni Ambassador and connect with our alumni. Just a few of the many opportunities for involvement include assisting and attending regional alumni events, helping with admissions recruiting events, class campaign activities, and thank-a-thons, and participating in our annual Homecoming and Reunion weekends. We are excited about the response we have had from our students about this event and anticipate the start of a new tradition at the Johnson School.

We have already kicked off the fall with regional alumni events both domestically and internationally. Our faculty and staff look forward to seeing you at events while they are visiting your region. If you haven't already, please mark your calendar for Homecoming Weekend, October 13-15, and save the date for Reunion 2007, scheduled for June 7-10.

Lastly, in the August newsletter we announced the addition of Lynne Allen as our Alumni Career Advisor. She has been hired to help Johnson School alumni who seek career advisory services during periods of career transition - including strategic positioning for promotional growth, career change, re-entry into the work force, and entrepreneurial pursuits. Should you be interested in scheduling an appointment and utilizing this benefit as an alumna/us, please contact Lynne directly at lga3@johnson.cornell.edu or (212) 799-9819.

I wish you a great start to the fall and sincerely look forward to meeting all of you during our travels.

Truly,
Karrie L. Borgelt, director
