I'd like to thank all of our alumni who submitted nominations for the Johnson School's 2nd Annual Alumni Recognition Awards. These awards honor alumni who have demonstrated extraordinary service through long-term volunteer activities within the broad spectrum of the Johnson School's alumni outreach opportunities. Their service may be reflected in the leadership roles that the individual has assumed, or through the unique contributions made by the person as a part of his or her service. We're pleased to announce this year's Alumni Recognition Awards recipients for 2008.

Business@Cornell launches with Market Crisis Unraveled, From Wall Street to Main Street
Business@Cornell, a partnership between the Johnson School, the School of Hotel Administration, and the Applied Economics and Management Program, aired the first in a series of live webcasts Oct. 23, 2008, "Market Crisis Unraveled, From Wall Street to Main Street." Three Cornell experts share their perspectives on issues of real estate finance, the market's reactions to the bailout, and the effect on our economy: Daniel Quan, professor of financial management and real estate in the School of Hotel Administration; Robert C. Andolina, visiting senior lecturer of finance at the Johnson School and former managing director at Lehman Brothers; and Ori Heffetz, assistant professor of economics, whose research focuses on the cultural aspects of economic behavior.

The Financial Crisis: Implications for Washington, Wall Street, and Main Street
On Oct. 1, 2008, The Cornell International Affairs Review sponsored an interdisciplinary discussion of the current financial crisis featuring Robert C. Andolina, visiting senior lecturer of finance at the Johnson School and former managing director at Lehman Brothers; David Easley, Henry Scarborough Professor of Social Sciences, Cornell University Department of Economics; and Professor Elizabeth Sanders, Cornell University Department of Government. Alumni Career Services
Nearly 600 Johnson School alumni have joined JohnsonJobs, a job posting listserv created to help you to communicate with fellow alumni on job-related issues. You can post positions or seek positions through JohnsonJobs. You can also post or seek jobs on Jobs on JAC. At any given time we will have between 35 and 125 jobs listed on the board. The Johnson School's new Alumni Résumé Database enables employers beyond the Johnson School community to access and view your résumé via the purchase of an exclusive Johnson School résumé book, or via the Global Focus database, which also includes résumés from other highly ranked business schools. Lynne Allen, our Alumni Career Advisor, is available to help you with strategic positioning for promotional growth, career change, re-entry into the work force, entrepreneurial pursuits, and other career services. Given the current economic conditions, we are waiving the normal charge after the first free hour until June 30, 2009. And don't forget about the Johnson School Alumni groups on LinkedIn – the largest group has more than 700 members. Check it out!

85 Broads extends invitation to Johnson School students and alumnae
Janet Hanson, founder of 85 Broads, has extended a formal invitation to the women students and alumnae of the Johnson School at Cornell University to join 85 Broads.

Hanson reports that 85 Broads has over 18,000 members who live, work and study in 81 countries around the globe. "Our members work for over 1000 different companies, which makes us the most connected network of savvy career women in the world. We have over 230 undergraduate partner schools and have active 85 Broads campus clubs on 40 of those campuses. We have regional chapters in over 50 major cities in the U.S. and internationally.

"85 Broads has one mission: to help the smartest women on the planet earn a higher return on their investment in their educations and careers," Hanson writes. "Given the very challenging market conditions we're in, we believe that the mission of 85 Broads has never been more critical. Membership is free but the benefits are priceless!"

Need help with a marketing project? Hire a team of student consultants
The Johnson School's Projects Office is seeking company clients interested in engaging teams of three to five Johnson School student consultants to work on important, current marketing challenges. Student teams work on client companies' marketing projects as part of the school's Strategic Marketing Immersion, and deliver reports complete with detailed analyses and recommendations. Participating companies pay $4,000 to engage a team of students who bring their own work experience plus the analytical skills learned in the school's core curriculum to clients' projects.
