Benefits to participants

To ensure the quality of services that it offers, BRL organizes its program so that all participants gain from the experience. BRL's service model of having clients work directly with law students, who are supervised by outside attorneys, has the following benefits:

Clients: Receiving legal guidance is a must for every new and young business. BRL provides its clients with legal services, which they might otherwise forego, at very affordable rates. Often, it is not in the budget of a start-up company to hire legal counsel; instead clients seek counsel after problems arise. BRL clients can take advantage of the available affordable services to be proactive and avoid potential legal pitfalls and traps. Additionally, with the law firm network that BRL utilizes, clients get exposure to high quality attorneys with whom they may form working relationships after graduating from the BRL program.

Law students: Law students get exposure to real business legal issues with real clients. They also benefit from the direct exposure to mentoring attorneys and their respective firms. This hands-on, real life, work experience is incredibly valuable and adds a clinical dimension to their law school experience that will assist them in making legal practice area career choices. Lastly, the students receive moderate pay.

Law firms: Participating law firms get exposure to Ivy League law students, which may assist in long-term hiring activities. Firms also get exposure to BRL clients, with whom they hope to form a lasting relationship after the client leaves the BRL program.
