Dick Shafer

Executive-in-Residence

Dr. Shafer is a Director at TruePoint, a consulting firm and educational center. Dick specializes in working with senior teams on strategy execution, organizational design and change management. Dick spent eight years at the Johnson School at Cornell University as Associate Dean for Corporate Relations. He is currently an Executive in Residence at the Johnson School. Prior to joining Cornell in 1997, he was a partner at Deloitte with responsibility for a regional change leadership consulting practice. He served as National Director of Human Resources for Deloitte & Touche LLP for 12 years, after holding a variety of senior executive positions at Corning, Inc.

In his various consulting and human resource management roles Dick has worked closely with the leadership teams of a variety of corporate and professional firms and non-profit organizations. His role has centered on creating the change strategy for and facilitating large-scale change. He has advised senior teams around mergers and acquisitions, starting new businesses, restructuring and reengineering functions, implementing information systems, and launching a variety of innovative human resource programs.

Dick completed his Ph.D. at Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1997. His research and recent consulting have centered on developing an organizational model for creating agile organizations, built to deal with continuous, unpredictable marketplace change.
