Cornell-Queen’s Executive MBA Program in Colombia

“We have selected Colombia as the first country outside of the United States and Canada where we will offer the CQEMBA after careful consideration,” says Dean Joe Thomas of Johnson. “We have been pleased and impressed by the strong support and reception we have received in Colombia,” offers Danny Szpiro, Associate Dean for Executive Education at Johnson. “In addition, we are very excited that the CQEMBA has been approved by Colfuturo as a program for which Colombian participants can apply for financial support through a combination of scholarships and loans.”

Initial plans for the CQEMBA in Colombia are to offer the program in Bogota, starting in the summer of 2012.  Ultimately, the size and location of the boardroom learning sites in Colombia will be based on demand of qualified applicants.  All instruction in the Cornell-Queen's Executive MBA Program is delivered in English.

Information about Colfuturo

Colfuturo is a joint public and private sector initiative aimed at facilitating the access of Colombian professionals to further education abroad. Created as a non-profit organization on November 21, 1991, its mission is to contribute to the entrance of Colombia into a world undergoing globalization offering information about international education and supporting students to have a successful study experience.

Colfuturo’s financial support program includes funding of US$25,000 per academic year to successful applicants. The schedule of the CQEMBA means that a total of US$50,000 would be available to each successful applicant. Part of this funding (25%) is provided in the form of a scholarship that does not have to repaid. The Balance of the funding (75%) is provided as a loan that must be repaid over the five years following the completion of the program.

To demonstrate support for Colombian applicants accepted in the CQEMBA program, Colfuturo’s Board of Directors has approved two important changes to their established policies and procedures. First, the CQEMBA is the first program eligible for Colfuturo financial support where the participants do not have to be engaged in full-time studies outside of Colombia. Second, given the start date of the CQEMBA of approximately July 1 each year, Colfuturo has altered the schedule for application review and will begin making decisions in April. Applicants should note that the funding decisions made by Colfuturo are done on a competitive basis after reviewing the academic accomplishments and other application materials submitted. Full information on the application process can be found on the Colfuturo web site.  The deadline for Colfuturo applications is May 31.
