Course Map for Management and Organizations 2007-2008

Managers and leaders must be able to diagnose problems quickly, generate effective solutions, create action plans, and marshal the support and resources necessary to implement those plans. The electives offered by the Management & Organizations Group are directed at teaching these skills - and follow directly from the Foundations in Leadership Course offered in orientation, and the core Managing & Leading in Organizations course (NCC 504). Management electives focus on topics such as leadership, strategy, negotiation, teamwork and influence, decision-making, change management, knowledge management, managing the sustainable enterprise, and cross-cultural expertise.

For those students interested in a more intensive leadership curriculum, we offer the Leadership Focus Program. The goal of this program is to provide a two-year leadership curriculum tied to the Johnson School Leadership Model. Each point in the model, including Vision, Knowledge, Action, Relationships, and Personal Mastery, represents a basic learning strategy for developing leadership. The Leadership Focus assesses students for their competence in each area, guides them in the development and follow-through on personal learning plans, and evaluates their improvement. The assessment and evaluation is based, in part, on a 360-feedback instrument customized to this model. Learn more about the Leadership Focus..
