Core Curriculum

The Johnson School Core Curriculum ensures that our students acquire a foundation of functional knowledge and strong analytical skills. The Core begins at Orientation, with our innovative Foundations in Leadership course, which incorporates a day-long Strategic Thinking Program. Our Citi-sponsored Integrative Case Competition, a capstone experience at the end of the fall semester, requires students to integrate learning from Core courses and apply their knowledge to a complex business problem.

These required courses form the Core:

Financial Accounting
Marketing Management
Statistics for Management
Managerial Finance
Strategy
Managing Operations
Managing and Leading in Organizations

Students in both the two-year and accelerated Ithaca-based MBA programs may exempt any of these courses by examination.
