Professor Iwan Azis has addressed topics of macro-micro linkages, economic forecasting, and financial economics, and has published books and articles on these subjects. He has conducted research and consulting work for the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations, the UN University, USAID, the ADB Institute-Tokyo, the Research Triangle Institute, as well as some government agencies. In early 1998, he was invited to speak before the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) of the U.S. Congress on the Asian Financial Crisis along with the deputy prime ministers of Thailand and Korea. He has conducted research and consulting work for various international organizations and universities. In early 1998, he spoke before the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) of the US Congress on the Asian Crisis along with the deputy Prime Ministers of Thailand and Korea. The recent award he received was for "Distinguished Scholar in Regional Science, Financial Economics, and Economic Modeling," presented at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias do Trabalho e da Empresa (ISCTE) Business School, Lisbon, Portugal, July 2006.

Professor Azis has recently completed policy studies on: financial social accounting matrix (Indonesian central bank), institutional factors in decentralization (UNDP), the link between macroeconomic policy and poverty (ADB-I), debt crises (Initiates for Policy Dialogue, Columbia University), and impact of oil price increase (UNDP).
