Newly launched concentrations will help students focus study & improve marketability
Concentrations for second-year residential MBA students have been designed to provide depth and/or breadth to students' experience, as well as personal marketability and improved positioning in the employment market
October 1, 2009 | Ithaca, NY | The Johnson School at Cornell University is pleased to announce it has launched a series of concentrations for our second-year residential MBA students. The concentrations will provide depth and/or breadth to students' experience, as well as personal marketability and improved positioning in the employment market.
"We recognized this addition as a vital way for us to build on our tradition of a flexible and strong performance-learning curriculum," said Joe Thomas, dean of the Johnson School. "While focusing their study has always been an option, enabling students to utilize a formal framework that is recognized by the school will allow for more structure and an additional way for them to describe their expertise as they enter and move throughout the job market."
Two-year students and AMBAs voiced enthusiasm for this program, and a group of faculty and staff, with input from students, recruiters and alumni, worked this past summer to develop an initial concentration program to be available this academic year.
Breadth concentrations are designed to provide breadth in a student's curriculum. Depth concentrations are designed to provide a student the opportunity to gain depth and tangible skills in a particular functional area.
