Johnson School Joins The Consortium
Affirms commitment to diversity and inclusion
May 14, 2009 | St. Louis, MO | The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, a national not-for-profit and premier organization for diversity and inclusion in American business, is pleased to announce that the Johnson School at Cornell University has been added to its list of prestigious business schools as the 15th member school.
The newly formed alliance has generated excitement on the Cornell campus and within the Consortium community. "We are thrilled to partner with the Johnson School," said Peter J. Aranda, III, Executive Director and CEO of The Consortium. "Including the Johnson School among our member schools enhances our goal of providing opportunities for deserving students to attend top-ranked educational institutions. Having Consortium students at the Johnson School broadens our reach and strengthens our mission to promote diversity in American business schools and corporations."
Joining The Consortium affirms the Johnson School's commitment to diversity. The Consortium's vice chairman of the Board of Trustees, James Holmen, is enthusiastic about the potential benefits of the affiliation. "This valuable partnership will enhance the experience and expand the professional network of every Consortium student at the Johnson School. We look forward to a rewarding collaboration with our newest member."

The Consortium will begin recruiting prospective MBA students for the Johnson School in the fall of 2009, with the first class graduating in the spring of 2012. As a new member of The Consortium, the Johnson School joins fourteen other top business schools including Carnegie Mellon University, Dartmouth College, Emory University, Indiana University, University of Michigan, New York University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Rochester, The University of Southern California, The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Virginia, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Wisconsin – Madison and Yale University.
The mission of The Consortium is to enhance diversity in business education and leadership by helping to reduce the serious underrepresentation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans in both our member schools' enrollment and the ranks of management. We will achieve this mission by recruiting for graduate business education qualified U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents from these underrepresented groups, as well as other persons who can demonstrate a commitment to The Consortium's mission and can best assist The Consortium in pursuing this mission.
The Consortium awards over $12 million in full-tuition, merit based MBA fellowships annually, and has been instrumental in assisting more than 5,500 underrepresented minority students earn their MBAs and advance their careers in corporate America.
