First Annual Global MBA Event on September 22

Bringing together students, alumni, and faculty, this event highlights the Johnson School's international programs

September 18, 2008 | Ithaca, NY | The Johnson School announces the first annual global MBA event to be held in the Yale-Princeton Room at Cornell University's Statler Hotel on Monday, September 22 from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Dean Joseph Thomas will offer the welcome and opening remarks, followed by a keynote address by Iwan Azis, adjunct professor of economics at the Johnson School. Professor Azis's research focuses on macro-micro linkages, economic forecasting, and financial economics, and has published books and articles on these subjects. He been a researcher and consultant for the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations, the UN University, USAID, the ADB Institute-Tokyo, the Research Triangle Institute, as well as some government agencies. In early 1998, he was invited to speak before the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) of the U.S. Congress on the Asian Financial Crisis along with the deputy prime ministers of Thailand and Korea. At Cornell he teaches macroeconomics and international trade, economics of financial crisis, and planning and policy modeling.

The event will also feature an alumni panel including, Sean Bannon (MBA '03) of Air Products, Gustavo Campos (MBA '07), CEO of his own firm, Susan Mann (MBA '03) from CHMHotel, and representatives from American Express and GE.

First year students will also be able to meet and network with second year students who completed international internships in El Salvador, India, Korea, Mexico, the Philippines, and Thailand. Students will learn about international coursework, international treks to Asia, London and Dubai, and international exchange programs. The event closes with a cocktail reception at the Statler Hotel's Regent Lounge.
