Johnson School takes third place in National Energy Finance Challenge 2009

Team "Proven Reserves" rocks highly competitive case competition


National Energy Finance Challenge winners

September 24, 2009 | Ithaca, NY | Team "Proven Reserves" came in third in this year's National Energy Finance Challenge (NEFC), Sept. 10 , in Austin, Texas. Finishing behind only Columbia University and Carnegie Mellon, the Proven Reserves took the Johnson School to the final round of competition for the first time since the NEFC's inception.

The Proven Reserves, made up of second year students Ryan Cole, Kevin Knight, Troy Rovella, Matt Stein and Piyush Tiwari, gave strong performances in all rounds of the competition and helped exemplify the Johnson School's increasing emphasis on careers and education in the energy field.

The NEFC is a highly competitive case competition featuring teams from the nation's top business schools. Each team was charged with designing presentations about Middle Eastern oil & gas extraction for a host company. The Johnson School placed higher than 13 top MBA teams, including Harvard University, MIT, Wharton, Yale University, NYU, Michigan and the University of Chicago.
