Johnson School's Third Annual Camp $tart-up to be held July 3-10, 2004
Camp $tart-Up returns to the Johnson School for its third straight year as the MBA school plays host to a unique and engaging entrepreneurial experience for teen women. From July 3-10, women aged 14-19 will have the opportunity to learn about business, networking, leadership, entrepreneurial principles and have plenty of fun in the process. The Johnson School has again teamed up with Independent Means, Inc., (www.independentmeans.com) the leading provider of education for girls' financial independence, for this week long program that will help empower young women to take charge of their lives, both in school and in business.
An important initiative to the Johnson School and its Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Camp $tart-Up helps build the pipeline of women business leaders available to corporate America. This program is one of the school's many venues for introducing young women and minority students to business and heightening their awareness of the vast applications these skills can have to future career pursuits.
In addition to visiting women-owned companies in the Ithaca area, attendees will learn how to write a business plan, receive instruction on business and leadership skills, and attend a business etiquette luncheon. Participants will learn directly from entrepreneurs during a panel discussion and will also work with individual business plan coaches as they prepare their team business plans.
The camp will be staffed in part by the Johnson School and recent MBA graduates who will provide the young women with access to real-world experiences and perspectives. This year's Camp $tart-Up is sponsored in part by Playtex Products Inc. Tuition is $1000 per camper and scholarships are available to qualified applicants. The deadline for camp applications is May 31st, 2004.
