Johnson School Students to Compete in National MBA Human Capital Case Competition

October 10, 2007 | Ithaca, NY- A team comprised of MBA students Anthony J. Figliolini (team captain and joint degree candidate MBA-MILR '08), Puneet Bhatia, Rohit Kumar, Tania Stewart, Rhoda Yap (all MBA '08), and Javed Singha (MBA '09), has been selected to represent Cornell at the inaugural National MBA Human Capital Case Competition held at the Owen Graduate School of Management in Nashville, TN from October 18 to 20, 2007. The competition is organized by the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University and sponsored by Deloitte and GE.

Judges narrowed down the field to select 10 final teams out of 25 entries based on answers to short essay questions. The Johnson School will compete against other leading business schools including Columbia University, Northwestern University (Kellogg), and Yale for $30,000 in prize money, including a $20,000 first prize award.

The team has only four hours to analyze the case and prepare their recommendations before a panel of judges. Comprised of men and women of various ages, nationalities, and ethnicities, and benefitting from a variety of prior work experiences, professional interests and academic concentrations, the Johnson School team believes it has what it takes to address the human capital issues that are facing today's businesses. They are also proud to be advised by Randy Allen, associate dean for corporate relations and consultant-in-residence.
