March 7, 2008 | Ithaca, NY | The Johnson School at Cornell University is pleased to announce that Alice Eldridge, vice president for ethics and business conduct at Lockheed Martin Corp. will present the 2008 Day Family Ethics Lecture on March 25 at 4:30 p.m. in Sage Hall room B05. In her presentation "One in 140,000: The Importance of an Ethical Culture," Eldridge will share the ways Lockheed Martin is integrating a strong ethics and compliance program into the fabric of the company. The event is free and open to all. A reception will follow beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Sage Hall parlor.

While at Cornell, she will also be a guest lecturer in the Johnson School's corporate social responsibility class taught by Professor Dana Radcliffe. The class session, meeting from 10:10 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. in Sage Hall B10, will be open to the Cornell community.

As part of Lockheed Martin's senior leadership team, Eldridge is responsible for managing the company's internationally recognized ethics program, which includes awareness and compliance training, outreach activities, issues management, and performance tracking. She has extensive experience and knowledge in a wide range of legal issues including export and import control and government-contracting litigation. She earned her JD with honors from George Washington University and is a member of the Maryland and Washington, D.C. Bar Associations, the American Bar Association and the American Corporate Counsels Association.

According to Professor Radcliffe, Day Family Senior Lecturer of Business Ethics, "The Day Lecture series provides Cornell students an opportunity to hear leading figures in the fields of business and law talk about their organizations' efforts to promote responsible conduct and address the difficult ethical issues that often arise in today's fiercely competitive business environment." Noting that the talks are sponsored both by the Johnson School and the Law School, Radcliffe said he was "happy to be able to work with my colleagues at the Law School to foster greater attention to ethical issues among tomorrow's leaders in business and law."

The Day Family Ethics Lecture launched in 2007 and featured the renowned attorney John Hueston, who served as lead prosecutor in the Enron trial. The lecture series is made possible by the Day Family Senior Lecturer of Business Ethics Discretionary Fund, established in September 2007. As a joint effort between the Johnson School and the Law School to support Cornell's commitment to leadership and business ethics, the fund was created by the generous donation of the Dr. Harry M. Day Charitable Foundation, and supported by Jerrold Day (Eng. '71, MBA '78) and Harry D. Day (JD '73).
