Students Raise $5500 for Katrina Relief
Johnson School students raised nearly $5500 during a weeklong fundraising drive and one-day golf tournament, all of which will be given to the American Red Cross 2005 Hurricane Season Relief campaign. In addition, many from the Johnson School community made donations online. The money raised will directly benefit thousands of Gulf Coast residents who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The Johnson School Receives Top National Hispanic Educational Award
The Johnson School at Cornell University will receive the prestigious Hispanic MBA Brillante Award during the 16th Annual NHSMBA Conference and Career Expo on October 1, 2005 in Anaheim, CA. Joe Thomas, associate dean of the Johnson School, and Deniqua Crichlow, director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, will accept the award which recognizes individuals and organizations that reflect NSHMBA's mission to "foster leadership through graduate management education and professional development in order to improve society." MBA Charity Challenge Raises Nearly $17,000
The MBA Charity Challenge, an "Apprentice-style" business competition that raises money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, collected $16,426.22 in its inaugural year. Eleven top business schools competed to raise the most money by selling one thousand pink and blue bracelets embossed with the phrase "Helping Kids See Tomorrow." For ten days, from September 21-30, 2005, students from these MBA programs put their business savvy to the test as they competed to see who could raise the most money for St. Jude's.

2nd HABLA Case Competition October 21-22
The 2005 HABLA Case Competition, co-sponsored by the Hispanic American Business Leaders Association and Marketing Association of the Johnson Graduate School of Management, will be held October 21 & 22, 2005 at Sage Hall at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. The case for the competition will be developed by PepsiCo, the platinum sponsor of the event, and Irene Rosenfeld, Chairman and CEO of Frito-Lay will keynote the event. The grand prize is $6,000 with a second prize of $3,000.
