First-Year MBA Students Shine in Capstone Event
Integrative Case Competition requires students to draw from all they've learned in first semester of their MBA studies
December 18, 2008 | Ithaca, NY | December 18, 2008 | Ithaca, NY | First-year MBA students attended their last classes of the semester, took a deep breath, and on Friday, December 12, picked up their packets for the required Integrative Case Competition, sponsored by Citi. The competition provides a forum for these students to draw on skills learned in the core MBA coursework and the Foundations in Leadership program.

Students were divided into about 60 teams of four to five students each and given 48 hours to prepare a case analysis and presentation. On December 15, beginning at 8 a.m., every student team presented its analysis to faculty judges, and were subjected a rigorous question-and-answer period following. Students were graded on their presentations as part of their managerial finance and strategy courses. Six finalist teams presented the case again before a panel of guest judges from Citi.
Later that afternoon, the teams gathered to hear Dean Joseph Thomas announce the six finalist teams, who immediately proceeded to give their presentations again, this time before a panel of judges from Citi and the Johnson School faculty.
First place and a cash prize of $3,000 went to team #28, Ben Ganger, Craig Morrison, Tamara Nazzal, and Kimberly Susko. Team #26 took second place and $1,500. Its members are Ryan Cole, Lauren McEnery, James Morrissey, Kelly Quinn, and Dev Talvadkar. Third Place and $500 went to team #29: Ryan Glenn, Jacqueline Mecca, Martin Pierce, and Kate Richlin-Zack
