Groundbreaking "Just About Jobs" Returns to Johnson SchoolLandmark Recruiting Event Again Brings Prospective Employers to Ithaca March 12, 2004, Ithaca, New York The Johnson Graduate School of Management today announced that "Just About Jobs," last year's groundbreaking recruiting effort that was remarkably successful and received national attention, is returning this year to the MBA school's upstate campus. Dubbed "Just About Jobs II," the event will take place over two days, March 18th and 30th, and will welcome New York City- and Boston-based employers who have never recruited at the top-ranked MBA school. "Last year's event was quite successful," said Karin Ash, director of the Johnson School's Career Management Center (CMC). "Its genesis was the need to do something unique to help our students find employment in a poor economy. One year later the economy is improving, but we still believe that we need to go this extra mile for our students." The goal of the innovative program is to connect students from the Johnson School's pool of high caliber MBAs with companies of choice. Recruiters from the two cities will be transported directly to Ithaca on NetJet corporate jets provided by the S.C. Johnson Corporation (a valued corporate partner of the school) and two generous Johnson School alumni, Peter Meinig and Bruce Waterfall. The recruiter-laden planes will make the round trip journey in one day and recruiters will maximize their time on campus by spending 6 hours interviewing pre-screened and pre-selected students who are potential employees or summer interns. Students, faculty and staff will mingle with recruiters during coffee hour, lunch and an afternoon reception at Sage Hall, the Johnson School's home building. Following the afternoon reception, recruiters will board their planes and return to their home cities. Director Ash added, "Just About Jobs II is a great opportunity for larger firms-under economic pressure to cut the number of core recruiting schools-to hire a Johnson School MBA with no additional cost to their recruiting budget. It is also a great opportunity for smaller and medium-sized companies that do not have formal MBA recruiting programs to attract quality talent." The successful 2003 event brought 25 employers to the Johnson School's Sage Hall and resulted in 24 job offers being extended.
