2009 Leadership Fellows Announced by Johnson School
Program provides a premiere leadership opportunity for highly-accomplished second-year students
May 22, 2008 | Ithaca, NY | The 2009 Leadership Fellows program has begun with a new class of 35 fellows. Tracing its origins to 2005, the program provides a premiere leadership opportunity for highly-accomplished second-year students who have demonstrated exceptional analytical and communication skills, as well as qualities such as maturity, poise, and respect for others. The fellows are selected by a team of faculty members based on these criteria.
During the Strategic Thinking Program, the Fellows introduce first-year students to the strategic problem-solving process by presenting problem solving frameworks and leading the students through discussion and analysis of mini cases. Throughout the year, they go on to guide their assigned first-year teams on how to approach the core coursework, as well as assisting with best practice on team process skills.
"The Leadership Fellow program is an excellent example of the Johnson School's performance learning approach. Fellows put into practice skills in analytical thinking, problem solving, peer coaching, and anticipating and resolving conflict, and they do so in service of their fellow students and the Johnson School community," said Risa Mish, director of the Leadership Skills Program. "The students selected for this program have already distinguished themselves to the faculty, and with the benefit of this experience they will be well-positioned for continued success in the wide variety of business leadership roles they will assume after they graduate."
