Johnson School to Host Net Impact International Conference in 2009
December 2007 | Ithaca, NY | The Johnson School at Cornell University is proud to announce it has been selected to host the Net Impact International Conference to be held in fall 2009. The conference will bring together approximately 2,000 students, professionals, and thought leaders from around the world to discuss the latest ideas and opportunities in business and sustainability.
With the guidance of Professor Mark Milstein, director of the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise, a student working group led by Peter O'Brien (MBA '08) submitted the Johnson School's winning proposal in March 2007. The proposal was supported by not only the Johnson School, but also the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Engineering, the School of Hotel Administration, the town of Ithaca, and numerous corporate partners. Collaboration between the University's programs and the participation of industry promises a more multidisciplinary conference that highlights the University and the region's expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship for sustainable enterprise.
Since its founding in 2003, the Johnson School's Net Impact chapter has grown to include approximately 150 students (as of May 2007). The chapter is guided by and works with the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise to promote member education and programming pertaining to issues surrounding sustainability, business, and entrepreneurship. The conference will be organized by a multidisciplinary team of students working with the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise, led in the coming year by Kevin Johnson (MBA '09) and Erin Bina (MBA '09).
