April 11, 2005, Ithaca, New York The SC Johnson Graduate School of Management is pleased to announce that Thomas C. Barry, President and CEO of Zephyr Management LP, will speak at Sage Hall on Cornell Campus at 1 pm on Friday, April 22. Mr. Barry will recount the various lessons learned during his extensive experience as a private equity investor in the emerging markets of Africa and Latin America. In Mr. Barry's words, "we invest where the reality is better than the perception."

Mr. Barry founded Zephyr Management, L.P. in 1994 to sponsor and manage non-core investment funds. The goal of each Zephyr fund is to identify a sustainable business or economic trend which can be combined with a high value added investment strategy. Zephyr has sponsored thirteen funds, with US $900 million in committed capital. The funds concentrate on private equity in Africa, Latin America, Korea, US distressed debt and US venture. Zephyr also sponsors funds investing in listed equities in emerging markets and equity income securities in the United States.

Prior to founding Zephyr Management, Mr. Barry was CEO of Rockefeller and Company, Inc., the investment arm of a wealthy U.S. family, and held several positions at T. Rowe Price Associates, including President of Rowe Price New Horizons Fund, then the largest mutual fund investing in U.S. small capitalization shares. Mr. Barry graduated from Yale University with a BA in Latin American Studies and Harvard Business School with an MBA. Mr. Barry is also a CFA.

Mr. Barry's presentation will be part of the Roy H. Park Leadership Speaker Series, supported directly by the Triad Foundation, which brings influential "thought leaders" and corporate executives to Cornell to interact candidly with students. The series has rapidly gained a reputation for hosting engaging and illustrious speakers. Past speakers in the program have included, Orit Gadeish the Chairman of Bain Consulting, John Pepper the CEO of Proctor & Gamble, Wendy Kopp the founder of Teach for America, and Ben Zander the Conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.
