For those traveling by plane, Ithaca-Tompkins Regional Airport is served by USAirways and Northwest. Syracuse International Airport is an hour-and-a-quarter's drive from Ithaca and is served by most major airlines; there is a bus and limo service to that airport from Ithaca. Rochester is approximately an hour and a half away.
From the New York City metro airports (JFK, LaGuardia, Newark), shuttle buses run directly to Port Authority. From there, we recommend students use the ShortLine bus service, which travels directly to Ithaca and the Cornell campus.
For those traveling by bus, Ithaca is served by Greyhound, New York Trailways, and ShortLine bus systems. The nearest Amtrak train station is in Syracuse; connecting bus service is available. Students with special needs are advised to contact bus lines directly to ensure proper accommodations.
If you are driving from the New England area, take the New York State Thruway (Interstate 87 and 90) west to exit 25A, Interstate 88 southwest to Bainbridge, Route 206 west to Whitney Point, and Route 79 west to Ithaca.
From the New York City metro area head west on Route 17 to Binghamton, then north on I-81 to Whitney Point (exit 8) and Route 79 west to Ithaca.
From the south take Interstate 81 north through Binghamton to Whitney Point (exit 8) and Route 79 west to Ithaca.
From the west take the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90) east to Geneva (exit 42) and Route 96 south to Ithaca.
