LGBTQ in Business
The LGBTQ and ally community at the Johnson School is an important part of the fabric of the Johnson School and of the outreach from ODI. Out for Business, the gay and lesbian business student club at the Johnson School, is a very active student group and exists to foster a positive environment and build a professional network for our members. They facilitate networking between existing students and alumni, with students at other business schools, and with professionals in the lgbt community at large. Please visit their website at:

Reaching Out 2008 LGBT MBA Conference
Reaching Out is the annual conference of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) graduate business school students. This year, nearly 1,000 students, business leaders, and recruiters will gather from October 30th thru November 2nd at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel (9th and K Streets).
The conference will present a dynamic line-up of industry speakers and workshop panelists representing all sectors of the business community, from finance and marketing to government and the arts. The conference will feature several new elements, including a dedicated Career Management Center at the hotel; a mentorship program to encourage lasting relationships between students and professionals; and more panels focused on the intersection of the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds. Out for Undergraduate Business Conference
The fifth annual Out for Undergraduate Business Conference in New York City September 26-27, 2008 will help LGBT undergraduate students learn how other "out" professionals at financial services and management consulting firms have dealt with these issues of being out in the work place and the recruiting process. Panelists and speakers will share insider knowledge about if, when, and how to come out in different professional situations, as well as strategies they've used to investigate companies' LGBT policies before joining a new organization.
The program will also help participants:
- Build fundamental business knowledge that is crucial to the interview process
- Polish resume and interview skills
- Network with "out" professionals and students from other schools
