Professor O'Hara's research and teaching interests are in financial institutions, particularly the structure of the securities market. Her recent research has examined the effects of stock splits in securities markets, and has examined the optimal regulation of exchanges and alternative trading systems. Professor O'Hara is coeditor of the Journal of Financial Intermediation. She is currently President of the Western Finance Association and a member of the Economic Advisory Board of the NASDAQ.
